Just to make things clear, no, I haven’t tried Guild Wars 2 yet. I don’t even own it. This is simply to illustrate that sometimes the newer games simply don’t hold my attention for very long. I often find myself returning to very simple mechanics, allowing me to just play and zone out even ( I looooooooooooooooooooooves me some Tetris!).
As far as MMOs go, I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to be fully invested in another MMO like I was in City of Heroes. It maybe because most of the ones I’ve seen are mostly fantasy based (World of Warcraft, Guild Wars etc.) or very heavy on the post apocalyptic themes. Even single player games like Bioshock or Skyrim… Those just aren’t my preferred genres. The superhero theme on the other hand I enjoy the heck out of. Then again, I’ve seen a bit of Champions Online and DC Universe Online and none of those have had that little something to get me completely balls out hooked…
What about you guys? What gets you hooked in classic or brand new games?
