So continuing with international question week, hmm? I didn’t mention yesterday it was international question week? Well it is, is it a real thing? No, I made it up, but still I like the idea of a full week where we question everything.
If you haven’t already heard, George “I had an accidental hit movie once” Lucas is screwing with the original Star Wars trilogy yet again. No, I’m not talking about all six movies being re-re-re-re-released in cinemas in 3D, no, I’m talking about the new Blu-Ray release for the original trilogy. Why is this bad? He’s done it again, specifically, the final scene in Return of the Jedi, where the Emperor is electrocuting the crap out of Luke, and Vader stands there, looking back and forth between the two, then decides his son is more important the the Emperors desires. It’s a powerful scene, one of the best in that movie in my opinion, and all Scumbag Lucas had to do to ruin that scene, was add Vader saying “NO!” over it. You remember how bad it was Vader saying “Nooooooooooooooo!” at the end of Episode 3?
It may not mean much to many people, but to me, if you’ve made something, whether it music, a painting or whatever, leave it be. Some will like it, some wont. But at least it’s there so you can reflect on where you were in that time in your life, and how you’ve moved on from that place to better your craft. When someone such as Lucas can’t stop fiddling with things, and almost universally everyone calls him out on it, how is it possible that people let him keep doing this?
